Non-tourist Visa

  1. Non-tourist Visa for Carrying out the Feasibility Study

Foreign Visitors, wishing to undertake research and study with a purpose of investing in Nepal, may be granted a non-tourist visa by the Department of Immigration for a maximum period not exceeding one year at a time and may be extended as per necessity on recommendation of the DOI. Schedule 2

Required Documents:

For obtaining this visa, the prospective investor should apply to DOI in the prescribed format along with the following documents:

  • Bio-Data of the applicant
  • Photo copy of the passport with the last visa
  • Brief description of the project in which research and study will be undertaken.
  • Photocopy of the citizenship certificate of the Nepalese investor, if the proposed industry is going to be established as a joint venture.

After obtaining the recommendation from DOI, they need to apply to the Department of Immigration in the prescribed format along with the following documents:

  • Passport size photograph, 6 copies
  • Recommendation letter from DOI
  • Bio-Data of the applicant
  • Photocopy of the passport with the last visa.

Fees:

The government fee for this category of visa is USD 60 per month.

  • Non-tourist visa for Expatriates

If required skilled manpower is not available locally, industry can employ foreign nationals by obtaining work permit. Such expatriate personnel working in the industries will be granted a non-tourist visa for duration of one year at a time on recommendation of DOI and Department of Labour. The work permit for such persons can be provided for up to a period of 5 years on annual renewal basis.

Required Documents:

·  Recommendation letter from the concerned Government line agency

·  Work Permit from Department of Labor

·  Work Agreement from Ministry of Home Affairs

·  Appointment/contract letter

·  Tax clearance of hiring organisation/ institution/agency

·   Tax clearance of applicant (for renewal) if taxes has been paid individually

·  General Agreement  with Social Welfare Council (NGOs/INGOs)

·  Passport and  Visa Photocopy

Government Fees:

The government fee this category of visa is:

  • First Year USD 60 per month.

Single Re –Entry Facility: 20 USD/month

Multiple Re-Entry Facility: 60 USD/month

Business Visa

Foreign investors and/or his/her authorised representative and their dependents will be granted a business visa for up to a period of five years at a time on recommendation of DOI. The criteria of visa-period recommendation will be as set by the DOI. Various parameters such as investment level, financial performance, employment generation, and income tax paid, area of investment etc. will be analysed prior to recommending the visa.

Required Documents:

  • Recommendation letter from Department of Industry or concerned line agency of Government
  • Bio Data  ( for first time applicants)
  • Foreign Investment Acceptance letter from the Department of Industry
  • Copy of Company Registration Certificate
  • Copy of PAN/VAT certificate
  • Copy of Share certificate
  • Copy of Industry Registration Certificate
  • Copy of Passport and latest visa
  • Latest tax clearance (regular visa)
  • Industry Monitoring and Supervision report
  • Progress report of company or industry (for renewal)
  • If Business Visa applicant has made investment of more than 10 million (NRS), ‘Share Details’ is mandatory along with other necessary documents for visa processing.

Unlike other Non Tourist Visa, Business visa is issued for at least a  month up to 1 year / for whole five years at a time.

Business Visa

  • USD 10 per month for multiple entry in less than a year
  • Multiple entry, USD 100 per year.
  • Multiple entry,USD 300 for 5 years.

This is only for foreigners who purchase and export goods manufactured in Nepal or who make purchase order

Residential Visa

Foreign investor making an investment equivalent to more than USD one hundred thousand, at one time and in convertible foreign currency, will be granted a residential visa on recommendation of DOI. This visa can be granted for one year at a time.

  1. Receipt of Online application
  2. Copy of company registration certificate
  3. Copy PAN/VAT certificate
  4. Copy of the share certificate
  5. Copy of industry registration certificate
  6. Recommendation from Dept. of Industry or Commerce
  7. Copy ofpassport and recent Nepalese visa
  8. Tax clearance certificate for renewal

Fees:

The governmental fee for this category of visa is USD 200 per year for the first time and USD 100 per year for each renewal.
